Ministries
Community Church Unitarian Universalist is home to many different ministries.
Please read on and reach out to any one of our wonderful ministry leads for more information!
Family
At Community Church Unitarian Universalist our Spiritual Growth and Learning goes beyond Sunday. Whether it be in our sacred work in Community Partnerships, our Chalice Circles, or our Children’s and Adult Education, we are curious, engaged lifelong learners. We want you to inspire us, challenge us and help us grow!
If you’d like to get involved with family ministry, please contact family@ccuunola.org
If you’d like an adult spirituality and growth opportunity, please contact minister@ccuunola.org
Music
We are a spiritual community, inspired by spiritual teachers and teachings from around the world.
Songs and hymns can center around inspiration of nature, the necessity for social justice, the importance of community, and the beauty of compassion.
Our choir is a chance to sing about it all, as we do it together!
If you’d like to get involved, please contact music@ccuunola.org
ComUUnity Justice
Guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles seeking justice, equity and compassion in human relations and affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every person, the Community Ministry of Community Church Unitarian Universalist seeks to celebrate diversity and build inclusiveness.
We promote human rights and social justice locally, nationally, and internationally through raising awareness of inequalities and injustices that exist, partnering with local agencies and churches, and planning and implementing activities involving worship, education, community service and action.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact justice@ccuunola.org
Worship
The creative, engaging Worship Ministry works closely together to set up our worship space, be part of the worship experience and think outside the worship box with technology, music, reflections and more.
We take the covenant of shared Ministry seriously and as such organize members to lead worship in the summer months, assist in worship training, and act as Worship Associates.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact: worship@ccuunola.org
Membership
Community Church UU Membership Ministry’s mission is to nurture and develop opportunities for membership and involvement in our congregation. We also work to spread the message of Unitarian Universalism into our wider community.
Our ministry coordinates greeters for our services, creates nametags for members and guests, organizes prospective member classes and new member joining ceremonies, plans occasional social gatherings, maintains membership data and generally helps connect Unitarian Universalists to our Church community.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact: membership@ccuunola.org
Stewardship
The mission of Community Church UU’s Stewardship Ministry is to encourage joyous giving and to secure the financial resources to support, sustain and enhance the church’s mission and vision.
We envision environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically prosperous management of Community Church UU of New Orleans which helps create an environment where all members of Community Church UU can easily find opportunities to share their time, talent and treasure.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact stewardship@ccuunola.org
Fellowship
We also recognize that our relationship-building comes through all the ways we connect outside of the Church.
Dinners for 6, a monthly dinner series, family game night the first Saturday of every month, from 4 to 6 PM, and Our Whole Lives, comprehensive, age-appropriate sex-edcuation, and sacred work with our Community partners. We are planning to start monthly movie nights in 2025.
Caring
The Caring Ministry, in partnership with our congregation, coordinates the care and support of
our members and friends. This includes:
- Visiting those who are ill or lonely
- Supporting those going through a crisis or life transition, such as a death of a loved one,
birth or adoption, or familial transitions
- Maintaining contact with those unable to attend church due to illness or disability
- Supporting those involved in caregiving
We aspire to be a source of support to CCUU and help foster and connect the congregation to the
sacred work of care, together as a community. Caring Ministry members commit to a one-year placement on the ministry (adapted from River Road UU Congregation in Bethesda, Maryland’s Pastoral Care Ministry).
