February 22nd Service
Music for Liberation
Rev. Jane Mauldin
Throughout the past terrible weeks in Minnesota, Oregon, Maine, Chicago and more, as people are organizing and working to protect their neighbors and work for justice in their states and cities, music has become a great source of inspiration and strength. The people of Minneapolis have especially reclaimed older songs of earlier justice movements and have created new songs of determination and joy. These songs, sung at vigils, marches, and protests, have helped inspire and strengthen thousands of people around our nation as we work for democracy and peace. This Sunday we will celebrate our part in this incredible movement by hearing stories of how music is affecting lives right now, and by singing and celebrating democracy through music.
